The Henleaze Society endeavours to support the needs and aspirations of all those who travel to and from the area.  This includes bus routes and timetables, cycle routes and facilities for pedestrians and leisure walkers. If you have comments, or complaints contact the relevant transport authority but we will always be glad to hear your views. Below are some of the main sources of local transport information.  They will be updated as and when it becomes necessary.
 

Local Bus routes and timetables

U5 Services, which run through Henleaze are being extended. The service, run by Bristol Universities and bus firm Wessex Connect, has traditionally been reduced outside term time since its introduction in 2007.

But the buses will now run throughout the year as well as being rebranded - from Ulink to Wessex Red.
First Bus services through Henleaze are also being altered, partly as a result of council funding changes. There are major changes to Wessex Connect services too.

Service 20 (Southmead,Charlton Road - Hengrove,Depot) : Some weekday journeys changed. Check timetables below. On Sundays the first journey from Hengrove towards the Centre departs at 0830 and every 30 minutes until 1730. Then operate hourly until 2130. From Southmead, Charlton Road, the first Sunday journey towards the Centre/Hengrove Depot will depart at 0943 and every 30 minutes until 1840 then hourly until 2240.

Service 54 (Cribbs Causeway - Stockwood): Monday to Friday daytime frequency is increased from every 15 minutes to every 12 minutes. There are no changes to the route.

Wessex Connect
Service 517 replaced by 501 Abbey Wood MOD to Avonmouth; 518 by 502 UWE Frenchay to Shirehampton; 585 by 506 Create Centre to Southmead Hospital* (via Muller Road) & 508 Sea Mills to Brentry via Westbury village; 586 by 505 UWE Bower Ashton to Southmead Hospital* and 506; 587 by 505 and 507 Kingswood to SouthmeadHospital* (via Muller Road).

NB: Locally the new 505 Service runs half-hourly Monday to Saturday along Coldharbour Road, Kellaway Avenue, Wellington Hill West, Southmead Road to Southmead Hospital (*Avon Orthopaedic Centre).

Local cycling routes

There are several local cycle routes.  These are generally not sign posted or marked on the ground but are shown on the Council`s Bristol cycling map.

Cycle maps of Bristol and adjoining areas should be available from Cycle shops, Henleaze Library, reception at Wilder House, Wilder Street, (where the Council`s walking and cycling team are based) or via our Membership Secretary.
 

Bristol Ramblers Triangular City Walk

This signed walk passes through parts of Henleaze on its 18 mile Long Distance City circuit of parts of Bristol linking Bristol Temple Meads, Sea Mills and Redland Stations on the Severn Beach railway line.  For full details of the walk see leaflets at Henleaze library or visit the Bristol Ramblers web site.
