Golden Hill Sports Ground
|
The Golden Hill Sports ground, which for many years
has been the home of the YMCA Cricket and Football Clubs is now
managed by Golden Hill Sports Ltd, a registered charity. This
follows the successful campaign for the acquisition of the field and
pavilion to provide a lasting recreational facility within the
community. The pavilion has been refurbished and can be booked
for parties, family celebrations and similar activities.
Extensive use is made of the sports field for cricket, football -
adult and junior - with coaching and events organised in school

Henleaze and District Courier
|
A considerable amount of useful information is
contained in the Courier, a local magazine produced quarterly and
distributed free of charge to houses in the neighbourhood.

Friends of Henleaze Library
|
The Friends of Henleaze Library in Northumberland
Drive aim to bring the library into the community and the community
into the library. They help to promote and support Henleaze Library by
organizing social events such as visiting authors, local history, play
readings, dance masterclasses, language evenings and teaching, music
appreciation and quiz nights. Funds raised go towards supporting
future events and "extras" for the library. More information

Trinity-Henleaze United Reformed Church
|
Trinity-Henleaze United Reformed Church offers
accessible community meeting
spaces in the heart of Henleaze at Waterford Road. Many local events
take place there. The church are now planning to rebuild and
redevelop some of the Church and Community buildings as part of a Henleaze @ Heart project for which they are currently raising funds.
The church and its meeting rooms can be booked for local events.

St Peter`s Church
|
Situated in The Drive, Henleaze, St Peter`s has a
large and versatile hall, used extensively by church and community
groups on a regular basis. These include toddlers, playgroup,
keep fit, brownies, dancing classes, badminton, handbell ringing and
Scottish dancing.

Henleaze Concert Society
|
A local society who run series of highly
popular concerts at the URC Church in Waterford Road featuring the
Emerald
Ensemble. Join the Society and you get first choice for
tickets for all the concerts which tend to be booked up quickly.

Phoenix Hedge Preservation Group
|
A group which seeks to preserve the ancient Phoenix Hedge in
Henleaze.
In November 2011 the Working Party discovered a Field Maple which
now make the Hedge over 800 years old!
Volunteers meet at the hedge at 4pm on the 1st Friday of
each month to do a variety of jobs to continue
to improve the hedge and encourage wildlife; all are
welcome; no special equipment is necessary although
secateurs are usually handy; gardening gloves and sensible
shoes are recommended.

Henleaze Ladies Choir
|
|
Henleaze Ladies’ Choir meets every Thursday afternoon from
1.45-3.45pm in St Peter’s Church Hall, Henleaze from September to May.
They are a friendly group of ladies who, under their conductor Jane
Walton, sing a varied programme of songs. The choir
give two main concerts a year in the church hall, one at Christmas and
one in the early summer. They welcome all ages from young mums to
retired ladies.

Henleaze Townswomen`s Guild
|
Meets on the 1st Wednesday of each month (except
August) at St Peter`s Church Hall, Henleaze. All meetings

Henleaze and District Flower Club
|
|
Meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month at 2.00 pm at
the Waterford Hall, Waterford Road. There is also a flower
demonstration on the 2nd Thursday, and on the 4th Thursday there is
a practical class. New members welcome to join this friendly club.

A wide variety of plays, in the form of rehearsed
readings, are presented, offering many opportunities to act, direct
and do backstage work. There are also theatre outings, talks and
social events. The club meets at Newnham Hall, Grange Court Road on
alternate Tuesdays between September and March. Performances
begin at 7.20 for 7.30 pm. Membership costs £25 single, £48

Henleaze Garden Club
|
|
The Henleaze Garden Club meets on the first
Wednesday of each month at the Performing Arts Centre of The Red Maids School
in Westbury Road. Meetings feature expert speakers, who sometimes bring plants
with them for sale. In December, there is a special Christmas Event and in the
summer, the July and August meetings are replaced by visits to gardens of
special interest.
There is an annual membership fee of £15 and members pay £1
per meeting. Non-members are admitted if space allows for a fee of £4.00. For

Henleaze Bowling Club
|
An old established club, located on Grange Court
Road, with some of the finest bowling facilities in Bristol.
New members are welcome, male or female, and coaching is available

Henbury Singers
|
Henbury Singers is a mixed choir of about 40 members
who perform regularly in Trinity-Henleaze United Reform Church hall.
They actively welcome new members from the local area. The choir
don’t hold auditions, and there is more information about us on

Red Cross Event First Aid Group
|
|
The group meets at St Peter`s church hall. Volunteers are
trained in advanced first aid and are ready to help at any occasion
from community events to stadium-sized rock concerts.

Westbury Scottish Club - Scottish Country Dancing

A great way to have fun and meet new people, keep
fit and get those brain cells moving at the same time. Classes Every

The Bristol Grandparents Support Group
meet on the first Friday every two months at Henleaze- Trinity Hall
Waterford Road, to give support to grandparents who have
lost contact with their grandchildren due to family breakdown.
